Supercars see strong sales in Malaysia

About 50 Lamborghini Gallardo and Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 coupes are expected to be sold and delivered to customers by year-end, said Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur chief executive officer Marcus Chye.

He said he expected about an equal share of sales to come from both cars, adding that the company only sold about 20 cars last year.
At the launch of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster last week, Chye added that the ballpark figure on-the-road price for the Roadster would be 3 million ringgit (Bt30 million) or 11 per cent higher than the price of the Aventador coupe.
Chye added that the official price for the Roadster would be announced soon.
At press time, Chye revealed that there has been an anonymous buyer for the Aventador Roadster.
“There’s been a growth in people wanting to buy sports cars in Malaysia, which is testament to people’s increase in spending power and affluence,” he said.
At the unveiling of the Aventador Roadster, International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mukhriz Mahathir said: “Today’s event tells us something about the resilience of the Malaysian economy and the confidence that investors both local and foreign have in our future. I urge the business community to embrace the economic reforms to keep up the momentum.”
Last year the Lamborghini group introduced the Aventador coupe, and has successfully delivered more than 1,300 units to its customers globally.
Automobili Lamborghini SpA sales manager for Southeast Asia and Pacific Andrea Baldi said that similar to when the Aventador coupe was first launched, customers could expect to wait about 18 months before the Aventador Roadster was delivered to them. The Aventador Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just three seconds, and reach a maximum speed of 350 km per hour.
“This is the same for both the open and closed-top configurations,” Baldi said.
The Aventador Roadster made its debut in Singapore and Miami last week and will be next unveiled in Bangkok.
