Thai striker Teerasil faces PSV ahead of Madrid trial

Fans can expect a brilliant display from Muangthong United striker Teerasil Dangda when he goes up against PSV Eidhoven in today's friendly. The match will be his last chance to shine before he goes for a trial with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

The Thailand striker will join another power player from the Thai champions, skipper Datsakorn Thonglao, for today’s AIA Champions Cup PSV Centennial Tour 2013 against the 21-time Dutch League champions.

“This is a good opportunity for me to prepare myself. Whatever the outcome,   the trial will be a win-win situation for me,” said the 24-year-old Bangkokian, who will be put through his paces in Spain as part of the partnership between Muanthong and the La Liga team.
“If things don’t go my way, at least I will gain experience at a world-class football club and learn about their high standards of training,” added Teerasil whose side will take on the former Uefa and European Cup champions at 7pm at the SCG Stadium in a match television lived on Truevision 2.
Muangthong United head coach Slavisa Jokanovic said he hoped his boys would produce their A game against the Rood-witten (Red-whites), despite limited training time.
“It’s too bad that we’ve had limited time to train. But it’s a great opportunity to play with a powerful team and especially one with Dick Advocaat as coach. We will prepare two line-ups and both Teerasil and Datsakorn are going to play,’’ said Jokanovic.
Advocaat, who supervised his team’s second Bangkok training session yesterday morning, promised to field first-team players in the match. Among the PSV squad, only captain Mark van Bommel, reportedly sick, has failed to make the trip to Bangkok.
“The weather in the morning was quite hot but I have no idea what it will be like during the game. I will send our first players into the game as preparation for the second half of the [Dutch season]. We want to end Muangthong United’s unbeaten record as Thailand champions,” said the PSV coach.
A football development workshop for leading local clubs will be conducted by PSV officials at the Novotel Impact from 9am to 4pm today. The lead-up to the game will also feature a match between AIA and All Stars teams and a mini concert by Khun Neng from The Star.
