Yachts gaining popularity in Kingdom, SEAT Boat says
SEAT Boat Co, the oldest fibreglass-boat builder and broker in the country, says it has seen growing interest in large private yachts over the past 12 months.
The company recently imported its largest yacht so far, valued at more than Bt32 million. The yacht, a 14.6-metre Meridian 441, was built in the United States and was recently delivered to a customer at Laem Chabang port.
Managing director Ruangrut Bencharit said a second delivery, of a 12.2-metre, Bt24-million Meridian, will take place in June.
She said the top concern of customers in Thailand, even before price, was the availability of after-sales and back-up service for the maintenance and upkeep of the boat.
SEAT Boat was founded in 1967 by Paiboon Bencharit, a passionate yachtsman. The company’s businesses include building boats, importing yachts, and maintenance, as well as being the dealership for Mercury engines. The company is also the exclusive distributor in Thailand of Sea Ray, the leading US leisure-craft brand, fishing-boat brand Boston Whaler, and inflatable-craft brand Zodiac.
SEAT Boat delivers about 100 vessels a year ranging from work boats to leisure craft and has supplied a wide range of customers, including some of the most prestigious resort properties in Thailand.
