Blue Coat offers a new security approach

Blue Coat offers a new security approach

Blue Coat Systems has introduced its Business Assurance Technology blueprint. The company is also introducing new products that enable enterprises to deploy trusted applications and quickly remediate data breaches.

Matthew Gyde, global general manager of security at Dimension Data, said that Blue Coat offers a new security approach that makes it possible for enterprises to harness the power of technology in a secure and safe way.
“Our clients are increasingly looking to IT as a partner that can help drive key strategic initiatives, and the Blue Coat approach aims to achieve this. The focus on trusted applications and integrating security intelligence and analytics for advanced threat protection is particularly valuable as those are two of the most important initiatives our clients have today,” said Gyde.
Greg Clark, chief executive officer at Blue Coat Systems, said that the proliferation of apps has fundamentally changed the Web, driving a shift away from browser-based Web traffic to application-based Web traffic, making trusted applications a crucial focus for empowered businesses.
“With the introduction of new products in our Trusted Application and Resolution Centers, we are extending our ability to leverage a global network of millions of users at more than 15,000 organisations to provide threat and application intelligence,” said Clark.
Moreover, Blue Coat Systems also unveiled findings from a new global survey that show when employees can safely and quickly choose the best technologies the world has to offer, businesses are empowered to create, communicate, collaborate, innovate, execute, compete and win.
Clark said that security has traditionally been steeped in fear – of the unknown, of new technology, of loss of control – and that fear has driven a rigidity that stymies growth in the business.
“To empower the business, the security model needs to change to one that makes it possible for employees to individually optimise on the technologies that best allow them to perform their jobs,” said Clark.
According to a survey of more than 1,900 business and IT leaders, written by the Economist Intelligence Unit and conducted by Vanson Bourne, 84 per cent of business and IT leaders worldwide agree that empowering employees drives greater efficiency in the business.
Business leaders and independent-minded users are driving a shift away from IT-controlled technology to at-will consumption of the best technology, devices, applications and IT services available in the marketplace. Securing this technology while empowering the business requires a new approach to security that is not just about what IT prevents but also what it makes possible.
Businesses are trying to harness the power of technology to deliver new products and services, improve customer experience and drive greater competitive advantage, but traditional security methods are too rigid and outdated to match the pace of innovation adoption.
