Tamarine falls to the guns of Babos
Error-prone Tamarine Tanasugarn bowed out of the US$125,000 Caoxijiu Suzhou Ladies Open, losing to top seed Timea Babos of Hungary 6-3 6-3 in the quarter-finals yesterday.
The 36-year-old veteran paid the price for committing 12 double faults in the match, which lasted an hour and 27 minutes and was replete with baseline rallies.
Tamarine is still alive in the doubles as she and China’s Zheng Saisai, the top pair, will play the quarter-finals against China’s Liu Chang and Wen Xin.
