The saplings were donated by the world’s largest courier company as part of its “FedEx Cares Week”, an annual initiative involving FedEx employees in 11 Asia-Pacific markets and held this year during September 7-15.
David Carden, managing director of FedEx Thailand and Indochina, said the tree-planting in Bangkok was a good example of “people power” in action.
It continues FedEx Cares Week’s track record of contributing to communities across the Kingdom, which includes building playgrounds, cleaning up parks and painting schools over the years, he said.
In addition to tree planting, FedEx volunteers have also been helping out with things such as digging canals, spreading fertiliser and trimming trees.
The Phra Pradaeng tree-planting activity was part of the fifth FedEx Cares Week sustainability programme in Thailand. The company has previously planted trees in Samut Prakan, Mae Na Pak, Khao Yai and Nong Hoi.
Since FedEx Cares Week was first launched in the US in 2005, it has expanded to more than 40 countries and territories around the globe.
