Film wants to come back singing a different tune

Film wants to come back singing a different tune

Bitten by criticism that he doesn't sing well, actor-and-wannabe-crooner Rattaphum "Film" Toekongsap plans to get some voice training in the US next year. "I'll spend at least a year there," he says. "I've been looking around for suitable courses

A meaty Hollywood movie role remains the secondary goal. That’s why he’s named Film, after all. In fact he studied English and dancing in Britain for four months in 2011, and he says he actually landed the role of Keanu Reeves’ buddy in the Japanese-American fantasy “47 Ronin” – but he couldn’t accept it.
“I went for casting and got the part, but it would have taken me three years to prepare, which is too long for me because I’ve got lots of work to do in Thailand, and at that time I’d just built a Bt50-million house.”
The decks are now cleared to bear down on his career objectives, though, and Film has just been granted a US visa. Asked if he isn’t getting started a little late at age 28, Film says it’s never too late to get serious about your profession. “I want to come back with pride,” he says. “I want to come back as a genuine singer, not just an actor who can sing.”

Gossip-mongers cheated
Show-biz agent Supachai “A” Srivijit and actress Davika “Mai” Horne have settled their bitter and prolonged legal dispute, with him withdrawing a lawsuit filed early this year claiming breach of contract. Alas, no more blow-by-blow accounts in the press from the frontline of their war of words.
A didn’t bother attending the civil-court session in Nonthaburi, instead letting his lawyer Kittipong Thitithanworarat do the talking. Mai was there with her lawyer, but later told reporters that A had called her and they’d reconciled. “It was more of a misunderstanding,” she said, “but we’ve cleared it up now.” The “Pee Mak” actress declined to say whether she’d paid him a whack of cash to settle the matter, but insisted their relationship feels all better now.
“Since he’s my senior, I’d like to apologise to him. Even though we’re not face to face, I hope he understands my good intentions. The contract I signed with him has been cancelled and we no longer have any problem with each other. P’A even told me we should meet for dinner.”
Well, Mai’s fans might be happy that she’s come through this relatively unscathed, but the rest of us can’t help being miffed that yet another great source of gossip has gone dry. We’re considering a class-action suit against both A and Mai, citing breach of contract for ceasing the delicious mud-slinging that has kept us amused all these months, especially all the sarcastic banter on Instagram.
