Nissan unveils all-new Teana in Thailand

Nissan unveils all-new Teana in Thailand

Nissan this week launched the redesigned version of its flagship Teana sedan in Thailand, its first introduction in the Asean region.

“Teana has always been a sedan where customers around the world could enjoy a premium driving experience, thanks to our leading technologies,” Toshiyuki Shiga, chief operating officer of Nissan Motor, said at the launch on Monday. “The launch of the all-new Teana today is another realisation of our commitment to Thailand, and I am confident the sedan will create sales momentum here.”
The new model was launched at a time when demand for passenger cars in Thailand has slowed after the end of the government’s tax-rebate scheme for first-car buyers.
Prapat Choeychom, senior vice president of Nissan Motor (Thailand), said the company had lowered its annualised sale target from 120,000 units to 110,000. In the first nine months, sales volume stood at 75,000 units, or 8 per cent of the market.
Nissan expects to sell 10,000 of its new Teanas in the first 12 months. The car will be produced at Bang Sao Thong district in Samut Prakan province and will be exported to more than 30 countries worldwide.
“The two previous generations of Teana were recognised for their performance, design and comfort over the past decade and won numerous accolades in Thailand,” said Takayuki Kimura, Nissan regional vice president. “I am confident that this all-new Teana will again be welcomed by many Thai customers.”
Teana is Nissan’s global flagship sedan. The new one features a fresh and prominent design that maximises passenger space without compromising the interior’s sporty layout, according to the company.
Combining the comfort and luxury for which Teana is traditionally known with the agility inspired by its Altima model, the flagship sedan embodies what Nissan says its products stand for: quality, style, innovation and excitement.
It is also the first car in Thailand to feature the company’s “Around View Monitor”. A confidence-inspiring driving feel is made possible through Nissan’s “Intelligent Transport System” providing drivers with complete 360-degree awareness of the vehicle, the Japan-based automaker says.
