To save us from ruin, Yingluck must resign

To save us from ruin, Yingluck must resign

The Constitution Court on Wednesday ruled that the charter amendment to create a wholly elected Senate is unconstitutional.

Meanwhile the 312 MPs and senators who pushed for the draft bill declared they will not accept the court’s ruling. The red shirts, their supporters, also delivered their own threats of intimidation against the judges.
On the flip side, anti-Thaksin demonstrators entrenched at the Democracy Monument are calling for the resignation of the 312 legislators.
Also, the opposition Democrat Party promptly submitted a no-confidence motion against the government. If accepted, the motion would prevent the prime minister from using dissolution of the House as an escape route.
Thailand has thus reached deadlock.
It looks like only Prime Minister Yingluck can salvage the situation by assuming responsibility and resigning.
Will she do what’s necessary?
