A feast of festive alternatives

A feast of festive alternatives

Siam Center celebrates the upcoming gift-season with a fun multi-brand pop-up store

WITH CHRISTMAS and New Year drawing near, many of us are already turning our thoughts towards gifts that will please but won’t break the bank.
For goodies that meet these two criteria, check out Another Alternative at Siam Center, a multi-brand pop-up store that offers creative, unique and fun items suited to the urban lifestyle under the concept “unexpected mix”.
Another Alternative replaces another popular pop-up, Magnum Cafe, and the 400-square-metre space is stocked with trendy fashion apparel, costume jewellery and home decor items by more than 20 brands from both Thailand and overseas.
“The pop-up store is designed in a free-form style, making it easy to mix a variety of goods and services in one place. For example, as part of our Absolute Siam collection, leading fashion house Issue has launched its first furniture line and opened its first coffee shop that serves Moroccan and Thai fusion food. It’s also home to pop-up corners like Happy Socks from Sweden, footwear brand Supra, streetwear specialists Commama from the UK and Chinese lifestyle brand Emoi,” says Siam Piwat’s vice president Parisa Chatnilbandhu.
The Emoi corner features a range of eco-friendly home decor items made from felted wool and 100-per-cent BPA-free PCTG plastic. Its shelves groan under double-walled eco teacups, canvas tote bags, wool shoulder bags and messenger bags, silicone name card cases, key cases and notebooks, slippers and tissue boxes.
Issue offers a new line of Moroccan-inspired home decor items and dog’s clothing in printed fabrics including a sofa, pillows, lamps, chairs and storage boxes in vivid colours.

The Happy Socks corner is filled with shelves shaped to resemble the branches of a Christmas tree, which drip with socks, leggings and stockings, both patterned and plain, in a range of colours. The brand has also collaborated with renowned British designer Giles Deacon for special limited edition boxes containing seven pairs of socks, with the proceeds destined for Elton John’s Aids Foundation.
British multi-brand store Commama presents colourful pop-art fashion by Joyrich, Hollywoodmade, Peter Jensen, Be&D and Cheapo.
Interbike corner boasts a collection of imported fixed gears and foldable bikes by Cherubim from Japan, Fuji, Birdy and Mode, while Leica has a limited edition of the single-lens digital cameras with cases.
Necklace Bar, meanwhile, offers more than 10 jewellery brands including Orawan “Yui” Ingkasit’s zodiac collection for OLVD by Olivia Diamond, Middle M by Nattakorn “Mick” Choonhavan and No Muscovy.
Monocle launches a new selection of leather notebooks, the jawbone X Monocle Big Jambox, Present & Correct desk calendars and Tod’s wallets.
