No reform required

No reform required

Re: "Rural Doctors Society's backing of PDRC raises questions", Politics, December 17.

A party that promoted healthcare among its populist policies made a big mistake in reducing doctors’ income, resulting in many leaving to work in private hospitals, thereby reducing the services available to the poor. The doctors are now ready to whistle-blow against corruption.
Ministry permanent secretaries recently met to discuss the current political situation. If this body joins the rural doctors in their protest it could blow the lid off corruption.
There is much talk of reform. There is much talk of democracy.
If the independent bodies are “independent” as they should be in a democracy, no reform is needed, just a good honest performance.
If this means that all of the current businessmen posing as politicians disappear, “Hooray”.
