Thailand win its 14th SEA Games title
Thailand successfully reclaimed the SEA Games title by edging out 2011 finalists Indonesia 1-0 in the men's soccer competition at Zeyar Thiri stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar yesterday.
After suffering back-to-back group stage exit in the previous two editions of the biennial tournament, the Thais, the most successful team in the event’s history, redeemed themselves to regain the gold medal that the country craved most.
Thitiphan Puangjan’s goal that came midway through the first half helped the country stamped its authority over the Indonesians who they beat 4-1 in the group match and won its 14th title in front of ecstatic Thai fans at the venue in Myanmar’s new capital.
The victory in men’s football competition followed the country’s title triumph in the women’s event and the double futsal success.
