Hey Mr Piano Man

Hey Mr Piano Man

The anti government demonstrations force Tor Saksit to postpone his tenth anniversary concert to August

Talented pianist and singer Tor Saksit Vejsupaporn can’t remember when he first knew he would become a musician. Musical talent, after all, runs in the family – dad Nakorn Vejsupaporn was a guitarist and vocalist with Thai band Grand Ex’, which was active during the 1970s and 1980s. Saksit began playing the piano at the age of three, and by the time he turned nine, was already playing at services at his local church.
Now 30, and widely acknowledged as one of the most talented new generation musicians around, he’s ready to celebrate his first 10 years in the music business with a full-length show.
Unfortunately politics, namely the anti-government demonstrations, have got in the way and the “Piano Man Concert (007)” concert, originally scheduled for March 23, has now been pushed back to August, though it will still take place at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
“The title of the concert is 007, with the double ‘o’, coming from seven notes and not from the James Bond stories,” Tor Saksit says.
His guests for the upcoming show will include long time pal and former B5 co-member Ben Chalathit, Singular’s singer-songwriter Tosaporn “Sin” Achawanuntakul, Pongkul
“Pop” Suebsueng of Calorie Blah Blah, and Rhatha “Yayaying” Phongam.
“There’s a surprise guest too,” he grins..
“I know Tor is going to get his own back on me for teasing him during my show,” says Ben.
“I have worked with Tor a few times and know his concert is going to be really special,” adds Sin.
Tor Saksit  made his debut in 2004 in B5, a group put together by LoveIs boss  Boyd Kosiyabong, which also featured Ben, Cake and Mariam. When the group split up three years later, he released his debut solo album “Living in C Major”. His second outing, “Munk” came out in 2008 and his third, “Where Is Love” in 2011.
Tor has been recognised on several occasions, picking up the Song of the Year at Nine Entertain Awards 2007 for “Rak Ther” and chosen as Media Male Artist at OK Magazine Awards.
His latest singles are “Gug” and “Loke Thi Mee Ther.”
