Travel destinations in cyberspace

Travel destinations in cyberspace

Sawasdee, Thai Airways' in-flight magazine, is getting an electronic copy with a digital edition targeting a wider group of readers to be released in June.

Sawasdee magazine, which has been published in Thai and English since 1971, features travel stories on Thai Airways’ destinations and travel information on the airline’s operation routes. The magazine was popular 20 years ago among collectors for its articles and travel photos but lost ground when the airline switched publishers. Fans of Sawasdee magazine can download the electronic copy at App Store and Play Store by searching for Sawasdee magazine.

Sounds like summer
Cha-Am is aiming to pack in visitors this summer by hosting the Cha-am Summer Festival on the beach on April 5. The event, which includes live concerts, performance arts and fashion shows, features Joey Boy, Zero Hero, Abuse the Youth and Hipster. The festival will kick off at 5pm, and carry on into the wee hours. Admission is free.

Rooms with a view
The Hermitage, a new stylish resort in Phuket, is to join the Unique Collection of Hotels and Resorts – a Thailand-based hotel management group. The eco-friendly property, which offers both freehold and leasehold options for purchase, is located in the Kata Beach section of Phuket and sits on 3.5 acres of land adorned with lush gardens, natural rock formations, and even its own waterfall. The resort is designed for all pool villas and suites with a sea view from every room. Visit www.TheHermitageHill.com.

Ring around the runway
Cyclists can now “compete” with pilots following the launch of a brand new cycling lane at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The 23.5-kilometre-long loop goes around the edge of the airport, and is designed for different speed of cycling – from “kiddie bike” to fast road bike. The cycling route is open from 6am to 6pm every day, and the cyclists should be prepared to show their ID cards to the security guards. The entrance is on the southern part of the airport (opposite Bangkok Airways office).
