First official broadcast of NOW set for April 7

NOW, the digital terrestrial TV channel set up by Nation Multimedia Group, has successfully completed trial broadcasting of its digital TV channel, which will be aired via digital terrestrial on channel 26, and satellite and cable TV on channel 36.

Nation Multimedia Group (NMG) president Duangkamol Chotana yesterday said the NOW channel was now ready to be broadcast in the digital format.
Digital broadcasting will be conducted via a ground-based digital system as well as through the network of TV Channel 5, she said.
Official broadcasting will take place from April 7 on terrestrial TV, cable and satellite TVs, and from April 17 on TrueVisions, with a full range of highlighted programmes, including international series such as “Homeland”, “24”, and “The Celebrity Apprentice”.
The new digital broadcasting service will reinforce NMG’s strength by making it one of key the digital TV operators set to serve the trendy lifestyle of urban viewers, she said.
“Our NOW content will be run under the theme ‘Biz-Life Variety’ and will cater to individual viewers who have an urban lifestyle by introducing outstanding programmes from all over the world, such as Global Globe award-winning series like ‘Homeland’, the anti-terrorism series ‘24’ and popular reality shows such as ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’.
“Other interesting programs will include game shows, documentaries and travel programmes, such as ‘No Reservation’, ‘Mega Factories’ and ‘Mega Structure’”, said the company head.
“We believe our international content, especially those premium award-winning series, will provide both educational and entertainment features to our local viewers. They will serve today’s viewers, who demand entertainment programmes that are different from those of the past,” she added.
NOW has also been working closely with local partners that produce quality TV programmes, Duangkamol said, citing JSL – producer of the “Trust” game show and the “Junior Bake Off” reality show – and Index Creative Village, which produces the “Face to Face” reality programme and the “Rak Sam Vela” sit-com series.
In addition, Prabda Yoon will produce two programmes for the channel – “Hang Out” and “Common Room” – to serve new-generation viewers, while Pongpol Adireksarn and Baramee Temboonkiat will produce interesting documentary programmes: “Rueng Lao Kham Lok” and “Chang Parp Sud Khua”, respectively.
The strength of NOW is its news content and financial and investment knowledge, which will enable it to report on news and trends from any part of the world, she said.
Programmes will include viewpoints on economic, financial and investment issues, with well-known news emcee Veera Teerapat hosting his “Money Go Round” programme, and Thanong Khanthong hosting his “Thanong Report” show.
There will also be the investment programme “Khoo Hoo Nak Long Thun”, with contributions from Kasikorn Securities and well-known emcees Kawee Chukitkasem and Padermpob Songkroh, and Aekpittaya Iamkongeak’s “Sangvien Hoon” programme.
Duangkamol said NOW would also air musical shows, such as “NOW Life Concert” – a weekly one-hour live broadcast, which takes to the airwaves on April 27.
Moreover, viewers will also be able to watch the channel via mobile digital formats such as smart phones and tablets. The NOW mobile application will allow them to access quality content anywhere, and at any time.
