Fed Cup pressure on Sweden: Tammy

Fed Cup pressure on Sweden: Tammy

Tamarine Tanasugarn says the pressure will be on Sweden when they host Thailand in the Fed Cup World Group II play-off at the Sparbanken Lidkoping Arena in Lidkoping, Sweden in 10 days time.

Playing captain Tamarine will lead her team into action in the April 19-20 World Group II play-off for the first time since losing to the Slovak Republic at the same stage six years ago. Thailand beat Uzbekistan in the qualifying zone final in February.
“Although Sweden have better ranked players with more experience, they should be feeling the pressure from home expectations. I’m not worried about this tie as overall we have a strong team too,” said Tamarine, who will step up in the doubles rubber.
World No 107 Luksika Kumkhum and No 195 Noppawan Lertcheewagarn will take charge in the singles while Varatchaya Wongteanchai is set for the doubles.
Thailand have never played the Swedes before. The hosts are led by world No 88 Johanna Larsson and No 145 Sofia Arvidsson. The winning team will be promoted to Group II while the losers will be relegated to qualifying zone next year. The tie will be broadcast live on Truesport 7.
