Bomb awaits Richy on TV, robot disposal unit ready

Bomb awaits Richy on TV, robot disposal unit ready

WE HADN'T HEARD much about actress Oranate "Richy" DeCabales since the movie "Khoo Kam", in which she starred, wound up its theatrical run last year.

There was idle talk that she’d quit show business, but now we know she hasn’t, and in fact will soon reappear – though on the small screen.Richy has signed a five-year contract with Channel 3 and will make her television debut in the action-drama series “Sauy Rai Sailab”.
She didn’t come off too well in the reviews for “Khoo Kam”, being widely criticised for poor diction, but most observers held out hope that she’d overcome a newcomer’s growing pains and blossom with experience. She’s generally expected to do much better in the TV series.
And we can only hope it’s the same for Richy’s new co-star, Tanin “Bomb” Manusilp, who has also suffered at the hands of reviewers, due to his stiff acting in several recent TV dramas. This isn’t good news for Richy, since in “Khoo Kam” she could at least rely on co-star Nadech Kugimiya to ease her burden and help bring out her best. Viewers doubt that Bomb can work the same magic.
In fact the social media have been mirthful lately at the casting for the new series, and not because of Bomb’s unfortunate nickname. One much-shared joke is that this will be a “robot TV series” due to the anticipated surfeit of mechanical (as in “wooden”) acting. That’s basically what Bomb was accused of in the just-ended series “Cubic”, despite having taken lessons with Pete Thongchua.
Now, Pete is an established and respected actor, but he doesn’t seem to be building a good track record as a coach. He also mentored Channel 3’s Krissada “Smart” Pornweroj and Channel 7’s Stephan Thasit Sinkhanawiwat, but they too march in the robot army.
For better or worse, Pete is not Richy’s coach. We shall now watch and see whether she can pull this off without a supporting act of any kind.

The discreet stalker
Having been “stalked” by fans herself, singer Amita “Tata” Young has outlined a course of action for becoming a smart and well-behaved “groupie”. The way she went after her favourite South Korean star, actor Kim Woo-bin, last Monday was a class act.
Tata offered a running account of the incident on Instagram as she tracked Kim while he was preparing to fly home from Suvarnabhumi Airport, following him not just to the check-in counter but all the way to the departure gate. Tata kept the photos, video and commentary rolling throughout. “Here he comes!” was one giddy dispatch. And then, “He saw me, and he recognised me!!”
Kim’s many other fans followed the incident like breaking news and in the end praised Tata for keeping it respectful and not trying to use her own star status to get any closer to him. “She just behaved like one of his fans,” an approving witness commented.
And all Tata had to do to get as close as she did was to buy a plane ticket to gain access to Boarding Gate D6. Then she went home, her seat on Kim’s plane empty. Evidently groupies have to be fairly well off financially as well as conniving!
