Wacoal and Kloset join forces for a collection of vintage lingerie and swimwear

Leading lingerie brand Wacoal teamed up with Thai design brand Kloset recently to launch a collection of sexy undies and swimwear on the theme “When Mum was Young”.
The “Kloset x Wacoal Mood” collection was presented at Studio 61 on Sukhumvit Soi 61 with the models strolling along the catwalk designed to resemble a family home.
Nat Mangkang, Kloset’s creative director, says the new line of lingerie aims to nurture nostalgia for the good old days when mum ruled the roost – though not necessarily in her underwear.
“We’ve adapted the ‘Flower Power’ era outfits from the ’70’s closet to reflect the hippie approach to life but given them a modern day feel with such embellishments as embroidered doves that are imprinted on our textiles with a special technique known as burnt out effects. There are paisley prints too and these have been reproduced to a smaller scale to make them suitable for underwear,” he says.
The “Kloset x Wacoal Mood” collection comes in five print designs on a range of bras, panties and swimsuits. The first is “Cuddle Do”, a luxury lace lingerie set with birds and flowers added for greater allure. “Cozy Posy” showcases embroidered doves, flowers along with lace and symbolises the spirit and liberalism of the ’60s woman.
“Miss P” meanwhile has prints accentuated by a vine of flowers and the lacy cups are specially cut with cotton for comfort. “Mama Check” comes in pastel pink with a flowery motif and is designed to be worn as underwear or outerwear teamed with a jacket. The line also has a one-piece vintage style swimsuit that will have mothers remembering their youth.
The last design is “Mama Tale” and the focus is on roses. The highlight is a bikini with a high waist that accentuates a slim figure.
“We’ve always wanted to do lingerie and swimwear. This collaboration is like a dream come true thanks to the high quality materials and expert cutting from Wacoal. We’ve used lots of lace and see-through organdie so it is quite sexy. The matching bra and brief sets are seductive without being too revealing and the high-cut panties help hide a variety of sins.”
Nat adds that Kloset’s latest separates collection also zooms in on the ’70s with jean dresses both long and short, cropped tops and platform heels that are perfect for matching with bell-bottom jeans.
