LG launches new flagship smartphone, targets second spot in Thai market

LG HAS unveiled a new flagship smartphone, the LG G3, worldwide. The Korean firm expects to be No 2 in the Thai smartphone market in the next couple of years.

Michael Jung, managing director of LG Electronics (Thailand), said the LG G3 was a new premium smartphone. With launch events taking place in six cities worldwide – London, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul – LG G3 is aimed at changing the definition of “smartphone”.
Developed under the “Simple is the New Smart” concept, LG G3 is a culmination of consumer research based on LG’s product development philosophy, “Learning from You”. LG claims it is empowered with the best of what current technology has to offer, providing consumers with a user experience more ambitious than anything offered before by the South Korean company.
“The smartest innovation in a fast-evolving smartphone market is creating harmony between advanced technology and a simplified user experience,” said Jong-seok Park, president and chief executive of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG G3 is the result of our effort to actualise that idea into a tangible product. And we are extremely pleased with the result.”
The new smartphone features a 5.5-inch quad HD display with 538 pixels per inch with four times the resolution of normal high definition and almost double that of a full HD display. It also comes with 13MP OIS+ (optical image stabiliser plus) camera with a laser auto focus that can shoot sharp images in a fraction of the time required by conventional phone cameras, and redesigned easier-to-use graphic user interface.
“The firm currently has LG G2, which it introduced to the market last year,” Jung said. “We are sure that our product is better than that of our competitors’.” The point is that product is god but how is can support our customers and how can approve to that market. I think that is a point. Nowadays, we already comeback, I think we can catch up very soon to get the corporation with our key partners," said Jung.
The firm aims to be No 2 among all smartphone manufacturers within the next couple of years in the Thai market. It now has three or four partners in Thailand and cooperates with telecom operators to market its products.
The new LG G3 will be available in Thailand in June in three colours: black, white and gold. The price was not disclosed.
