Transiting in style
Low-cost airline Thai AirAsia X is now offering a “Fly Thru Service” to passengers flying out from Myanmar and transiting to other destinations at Don Mueang International Airport. The new service lets passengers travelling on two different flights enjoy greater speed and less hassle as they don’t have to go through immigration pass or collect their baggage. The new service covers AirAsia’s eight international destinations including Chongqing, Jakarta, Macau and Singapore and five domestic destinations – Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Krabi and Phuket.

Waxing wonderful
Ubon Ratchathani marks the Buddhist Lent retreat once again with its famed Candle Festival that runs from now until the middle of July. The festival culminates with huge, decorated candles being formally presented to local temples in a form of merit making for khao phansa. Until July 12, artists from Germany, Mexico, Japan and China will compete in a wax-carving competition at the National Museum. The highlight is on July 12, when more than 100,000 devotees will join a procession of carved candles on floats. A sightseeing tour of the eight candle-making communities is a must. A walk on the wild side
