Ministry determined to redress balance on US trafficking report

The Commerce Ministry will soon dispatch teams to the United States and the European Union in order to clarify the position about labour issues in the Kingdom, in light of concern that consumers do not have a full and balanced picture in regard to Thailand’s having been downgraded in the US’s recent human-trafficking report,Permanent secretary Srirat Rastapana said.

 

Fetco aims to boost post-

The Federation of Thai Capital Markets Organisations (Fetco) plans to meet the Finance Ministry to discuss measures to boost foreign investor confidence after the military coup, especially |in major markets such as London, Singapore and Hong Kong by next month, Chairman Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn yesterday said.

The federation will use the opportunity when it meets the ministry and the National Council of Peace and Order to emphasise the need to allow tax break to buyers of long-term mutual funds and retirement funds in order to promote personal savings, he said.

 

NBTC panel on compensating

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission |(NBTC) will hold the first meeting on Friday of a subcommittee assigned to support and pay compensation to RS International in relation to its sole World Cup 2014 licence.

NBTC chairman Thares Punsri yesterday said the five-member panel would be chaired by the director-general of the Comptroller-General Department and comprise a representative from the National Economic and Social Development Board, the Budget Bureau Department and the Intellectual Property Department, plus the deputy secretary-general of the NBTC.

 

Thailand Tech Start-up

A group of Thai tech start-ups has joined hands to set up the Thailand Tech Start-up Association, which aims to build and support a sustainable community of local entrepreneurial businesses.

The association’s main objectives are to unite the community; to drive the industry through collaboration with all stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, investors and the government sector; and to accelerate Thai start-ups in terms of meeting the international standard, association president Patai Padungtin said.
