Myanmar rejoins Miss World
A national-level beauty pageant will be hosted next month, to find the beauty queen who will represent the country in the international pageant.
Organised by Forever Bec-Tero, Miss Myanmar World beauty pageant will be held on September 27. The venue has not yet been announced .
"Miss World is one of the world's most prestigious beauty pageants. Myanmar will be competing for the first time after over 50years of absence. The beauty queen will be selected through various stages and the final competition will be broadcast live,” said a Forever Bec-Tero executive.
The organiser is now inviting local ladies aged 17 to 23 to submit applications.
"This is an opportunity for Myanmar women with all-round skills," the executive said.
The winner is receives Ks 10 million (US$10,309). She will be trained for Miss World competition which will be held in London on December 14.
Myanmar was absent from global beauty pageants for over five decades but a number of local beauty queens have been competing in international beauty pageants since Nan Khin Zay Yar entered the Miss International beauty pageant in 2012. Myanmar last competed in Miss World in 1960.
