Bt300,000 monthly grants give not-for-profit organisations a platform to promote campaigns around the globe

Google Thailand yesterday launched Google Ad Grants so that non-profit organisations and foundations in the Kingdom can use its AdWords software to promote campaigns for free.
Thailand is the 37th country to have access to the US$10,000 (Bt300,000) monthly grants.
The more than 50,000 register-ed non-profit organisations and foundations can apply for Ad Grants. Currently, more than 20 organisations have joined the programme.
AdWords is the company’s online advertising tool.
Google Thailand’s head of marketing Pornthip Kongchun said that the campaigns had no expiration date so long as the AdWords account was actively managed.
“The beauty of using Google AdWords is it helps non-profit organisations advertise their activities, and organisations can reach the people, not only in Thailand but throughout the world, through the online channel – actually through Google’s search, since text ads are shown on Google’s search result,” Pornthip said.
She said that given organisations and foundations used AdWords for free, their keyword’s cost-per-click bid was limited to US$2.
To qualify for the grant, entities must be registered non-profit organisations or foundations and have an online presence.
“Ads and keywords must reflect the mission of the approved organisations and must only link to their website domain,” Pornthip said. “Government organisations, schools, hospitals, and university cannot join this programme.”

Reaching the right targets
Google Ad Grants was launched in 2003 and supports more than 14,000 organisations and foundations around the world.
Pornthip said that organisations and foundations that had been in the programme for at least six months and kept running out of credit could be in line for a $30,000 a month credit increase if they actively used AdWords to support their activities.
Change Fusion, the operator of crowd-funding platform Taejai.com, has been using Google Ad Grants for two months.
Its general manager Sirinart Torviriyalertchai said since using AdWords the organisation’s membership had gone from 3,000 to 4,700.
“Google AdWords helps us to reach a lot more of the right targets,” Sirinart said. “Using AdWords helps us to quickly complete the campaigns, which are all done online.
“Previously, we used email and social media to reach our donators but it was not as effective as using Google’s online advertising. Because our campaign ads appear alongside the search result, that helps us reach people efficiently.”
Ladda Panyavicha, manager of The Mirror Foundation, said that AdWords quickly drew a lot of donors to the foundation’s website and its website traffic increased instantly after joining Ad Grants.
“AdWords is a powerful online advertising tool and importantly, it is free of charge,” Ladda said. “Previously, we used SEO (search engine optimisation) and the social media platform to promote the foundation’s activities.”
Ananya Hemvijitraphan, the external relations associate at the Teach For Thailand Foundation, said that AdWords helped the foundation reach prospective volunteer teachers around the world.
“Unique visitors on our website increased by five times after we used AdWords to promote our activities,” Ananya said.
