Lamina campaign set to heat up

Lamina campaign set to heat up

Lamina Films has decided to intensify marketing activities during the second half of the year due to a 20-per-cent decline in the solar film market.

Techno Sale (Frey) managing director Channapha Saisamorn said the company, which imports and markets Lamina and LLumar films along with Thule off-roading accessories and Tribos auto paint protectors, participated in both the FAST Auto Show as well as the BIG Motor Sales 2014 events.
“We will be taking part in automotive exhibitions throughout the year in order to create stronger awareness as well as stimulate the market so that we achieve our sales targets,” she said.
The automobile market went downhill by 40 per cent during the first 7 months of the year, and may end up seeing sales of only 920,000 vehicles this year, reflecting a 30-per-cent plunge compared to 2013, Channapha said.
“This would also cause the automotive solar film market to drop by 20 per cent to Bt1.6 billion-Bt1.7 billion,” she said. “The solar film market definitely shrinks according to the new car market, but recently customer behaviour has changed dramatically. This has helped the premium solar film market to grow, and it could steal a 60-per-cent market share in the overall solar film market this year. At the same time, more used-car owners are bringing in their vehicles for fitting solar film.”
The company's sales target for 2014 is Bt760 million, comprising Bt720 million for solar films and Bt40 million for other products. If the sales target is achieved, Lamina will bag a 35-per-cent market share.
“It is expected that the solar film market will experience stronger competition during the second half of the year as everyone will be trying harder to maintain their market share. More new products will be launched and more sales campaigns undertaken. This will create a lot of movement in the solar film market,” she predicted.
