Unnatural competition is wasteful and unnecessary

Unnatural competition is wasteful and unnecessary

TOT is struggling. May be this is the right time to merge the state-owned telecom entities, TOT and CAT. Why let state enterprises compete with each other? Why have double up from administrations down to double sets with tools.

An emerged state telecom industry will take away the unnatural state of competition or fights that are there today. There are also coordination problems now when one state enterprise’s hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing. Maybe unnecessary overlapping too.  One state-run telecom enterprise will give a better rationalised telecom service, good for all users, the main purpose of the whole telecom industry. Could it be that the leaders in both TOT and CAT cling to their benefits and oppose any merger, afraid of losing their fat privileges – good for them but bad for the people they are expected to serve?
