Big seafood companies are wrecking the country
Major Thai seafood companies are making big profits from their businesses at huge cost to their own country.
The conduct of these food giants has caused much damage to Thailand. For example:
L Fish stocks in Thailand’s seas are rapidly depleting as a result of their policy to buy literally everything that small fishermen can take out of the water.
L Cross-border slave labour has become commonplace. News of the torture and murder of foreign labourers has damaged the country’s image greatly.
L Shrimp farming has irreparably damaged most of Thailand’s mangrove forest. Topsoil along the shorelines has been tainted with salt, prompting many farmers to relocate.
To sum up, why must our country pay Bt100 for every Bt1 profit that these conglomerates make?
