Phuket to welcome 13 million visitors this year: KResearch
Phuket is expected to welcome a total of 13 million visitors this year, thanks to the gradual recovery in the overall tourism industry as well as monthly activities in the island province, said Kasikorn Research Centre.
The arrivals mark an 8.7 per cent increase from last year, the research centre said.
Tourism receipts are expected to rise by 9 per cent to Bt279 billion. In 2013, the receipts expanded by 11 per cent from the previous year.
Phuket this month draws tourists with the Je Food Festival. In the remaining months of the year, the province schedules to host the 4th Asian Beach Games and the Phuket King's Cup Regatta.
