War cries of people like Jakrapob get us no nearer to peace

War cries of people like Jakrapob get us no nearer to peace

News that former PM's Office minister Jakrapob Penkair is among four additional suspects being sought by police for their involvement in the accumulation and possession of military-grade weapons is startling, to say the least.

Jakrapob has changed much since entering politics, joining Thaksin Shinawatra’s Thai Rak Thai party in 2003. He went from being a well-mannered university man to a rambunctious and bellicose politician.
He has become one of Thaksin’s most loyal servants. He attacks anyone, high or low, who questions Thaksin’s political ways.
Until political players with this warlike mindset change their stance, there will be no peaceful end to the country’s problems.
Now is not the time for self-aggrandisement; now is the time to place the interests of the country as a whole above those of the individual.
