Fashion designer Vatanika creates special BMW i8-inspired collection

Being the first ever plug-in hybrid sports car that can be fully recharged by any household power socket within just three hours, the BMW i8 is a perfect example of ground-breaking technology combined with sophisticated style. Inspired by BMW i8’s flat silhouette, the unique double-kidney grille highlighted in the BMW i Blue and athletically sculpted surfaces, Vatanika explored futuristic fabrics to mirror the car’s innovative spirit. 

“The BMW i8 is a visual masterpiece,” Vatanika said. “The BMW i Blue body line is bold and modern, while the scissoring doors lend a sense of movement to the whole. BMW i8’s construction is extremely fine, with great attention to detail. The same applies to this exclusive collection. Appropriate for the BMW i8, it is intended to reflect the luxurious lifestyle of European Café Society in the 1920s: royalty, aristocracy, famous artists, writers and painters,” says Vatanika. “That glamour is modernised and updated with unfamiliar, eye-catching contemporary silhouettes – like that of the BMW i8 – to make this a collection that draws on the past to capture the future.”

The “Vatanika Presented by BMW” fashion show will be held tomorrow at 4pm at CentralWorld, Bangkok.
