Audi launches new Bt5.99m hybrid

German automaker Audi is revving up its presence in Thailand with the introduction of the A8L Hybrid, which the company says is "competitively priced" at Bt5.99 million.

With support from parent company Audi AG, the A8L (L stands for long wheelbase) Hybrid not only comes with a “low-pricing strategy” but also offers a 5-year 100,000km warranty. The battery has a 5-year warranty.
Apasra Pradipasena, general manager of Audi distributor German Motor Work, said the new Audi A8L Hybrid would be categorised as a German super premium car to compete in the executives’ saloon segment, as its body and technologies cater to the needs of super-saloon users.
“Guided by Audi AG’s policy in penetrating the Asia-Pacific market, the company is confident that the new Audi A8L Hybrid would receive good feedback and recognition,” she said.
Meanwhile, executive director Tunyanon Leenutaphong said the company has continuously worked on its marketing strategies along with new vehicle launches.
Since Audi offers various car models for all segments, the company is able to present a variety of marketing activities, she said.
German Motor Work also has teamed up with its allies to “strengthen its good image”, while promoting brand awareness among targeted customer groups.
The wheelbase of the A8L Hybrid has been increased by 13 centimetres compared to the standard model, and is now 3.12 metres, resulting in increased rear legroom. This Hybrid is a front-wheel-drive car that comes with a 2.0-litre TFSI (turbo fuel stratified injection) engine capable of producing 211 horsepower at 4,300-6,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500-4,200 rpm. The electric motor pumps out 54 horsepower, giving the Hybrid a total output of 245 horsepower and combined torque of 480 Nm. It also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. An adaptive air suspension mated to 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels with 255/45 R19 tyres give the A8L Hybrid “excellent ride quality”. The car’s highlights include MMI (Multi-Media Interface) with a multifunction steering wheel, a large display screen, an impressive Bose sound system, and rear-seat entertainment featuring a 10.2-inch LCD screen. Convenience features include “power door close assist” and an electric trunk opening/closing system.
“This car also gives importance to special functions to accommodate an executive’s working and relaxing needs such as a folding table to support working, a powered footrest for greater comfort and solar sunroof technology, which keeps the interior ventilated and cool while the car is parked in the sun,” Apasra added.
