On the right track

Thailand might not be an ideal place for cycling fanatics - but its airport is.

Suvarnabhumi’s green-tarmac cycling green track, which sweeps around one of the world’s busiest airport, is now becoming famous the world over thanks to “CNN Travel”, which Suvarnabhumi Airport as among the globe’s best airport bike paths. It's free, though cyclists need to show ID for access.
 
Flying high around the Kingdom
Point-to-point flight operations – meaning no transit in Bangkok – are becoming increasingly population with airlines. AirAsia (www.AirAsia.com), for example, now connects North to South with its recently launched Chiang Mai-Surat Thani route and is already reporting a more than 90 per-cent load factor. Bangkok Airways (www.BangkokAir.com), now offers direct flights between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani and Chiang Mai and Phuket and has recently added Chiang Mai to Mandalay in Myanmar to its operations.
 
Cities with a touch of class
Bangkok and Chiang Mai rank as No 13 and No 21 respectively among the top cities in the world in the annual readers’ survey organised by lifestyle magazine Conde Nast Traveller. This year’s awards, announced on October 20, reflect the opinions of nearly 77,000 responses in the survey tabulated by Equation Research. Conde Nast Traveller’s readers also honoured Thailand in other categories including Asia’s top hotels and resorts. Florence is a perennial Readers’ Choice winner, with all travellers admiring its art, architecture, history, and cuisine.
 
Unwinding and dining
Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga unveils a new Saturday hot spot for couples and families who play together and stay together. Known as the “Saturday Sessions”, it’s the latest innovation by the pioneering resort group where guests are treated a “wellness that works” philosophy and is aimed at anyone with a taste for the luxury beach club life, a tasty tune and a nicely chilled Rose.
