Channel 7 tees up Honda LPGA Thailand for five more years

BBTV Channel 7 and the LPGA yesterday signed a five-year partnership deal to organise the US$1.5-million Honda LPGA Thailand, starting with the 2015 edition scheduled for February 26 to March 1 at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course.

The tournament features the top 60 players from the LPGA’s money list and 10 exemptions competing in the 72-hole stroke play format with no cut. All eyes will be on the 16th hole, a par-3, where the prize for a hole-in-one is a Honda HR-V car.
This year’s edition saw Anna Nordqvist fire a 15-under-par 273 to beat defending champion Inbee Park of South Korea by two strokes for her third LPGA title. Thidapa Suwannapura was the best Thai finisher in the field at joint 14th alongside Sandra Gal and Angela Stanford.
“The LPGA has counted on BBTV Channel 7 to be a sole promoter of their official tournament in Thailand since 2006. We aim to stage the tournament to meet the highest standards,” said Palakorn Somsuwan, managing director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV.
While Channel 7 has extended its partnership with the LPGA for five years, Honda has renewed its three-year deal as the tournament’s main sponsor. “Honda and BBTV Channel 7 have signed a three-year contract extension effective from next year. Honda is the official sponsor for the ninth consecutive year,” said Pitak Pruittisarikorn, chief operating officer, Honda Automobile (Thailand).
Winners of the Honda Exclusive Golf Challenge will play alongside world-class women golfers in the Pro-Am. Meanwhile a Honda LPGA 2015 Roadshow runs this weekend at Central Bangna, from November 15-16 at CentralWorld and during the November 29–December 10  Motor Expo at Impact Arena.
