SET honours 45 firms for their CSR approach

SET honours 45 firms for their CSR approach

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has held a CSR recognition 2014 ceremony for the third consecutive year to honour 45 Thai-listed companies for their approach to social responsibility.

The SET said they have “shown their continuous commitment ... towards sustainability, integrating business operation with environmental, social, and governance considerations, becoming role models for others.”
This year, there were two special awards: most improved CSR awards for three listed companies and their outstanding social responsibilities development - and Rising Star awards for the companies participating in the contest for the first year with outstanding and admirable performances.
The CSR recognition awards winners were invited to compete in the interview round for the awards. From these, 21 were eligible to compete in the final round of  the SET Awards 2014 to be held later.
SET President Kesara Manchusree said “sustainability integration had become an integral part of creating competitive capabilities, along with the best practice in CSR, as a role model for other companies to follow."
The eight winners of the Most Improved CSR and Rising Star awards were:
_ Most Improved CSR awards, granted to three listed companies having shown outstanding social responsibilities development. The three winners were
Asian Phytoceuticals (APCO), IRPC, and Padaeng Industry (PDI).
_ Rising Star awards, granted to five listed companies taking part in the contest for the first time – Indorama Ventures (IVL), PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), Saha Pathana Inter-Holding (SPI), Sri Trang Agro-Industry (STA) and Tipco Foods (Tipco).
Kesara said Thai listed firms were increasingly recognising the importance of CSR, a road to sustainability. Many companies had substantially improved their CSR effort during the past year, using responsibility to stakeholders as a key component to reach their development goals and strategies. Some had set up  departments responsible for adding CSR into all managerial processes. More importantly, support from company leaders were factors in driving their CSR concept into practical implementation, Kesara added.
The SET Awards 2014 event will be held on November 27.
