Sweet sounds of spring
T & Bar on Thonglor offers interesting fusion cuisine and live music too
A RELATIVE newcomer to trendy Market Place Thonglor, T & Bar has quickly become a favourite with the stylish set who enjoy dining on fusion cuisine while sipping a drink and listening to live music.
Opened last year by six friends who love to cook, the restaurant is designed with a nod to industrial chic and boasts brick walls painted white that contrast with bare cement floor.
The menu includes a range of pizzas with very thin crusts topped with pork, curry paste and northern Thai sausage that just beg to be shared as well as spaghetti tom yum.
“Our dishes are all prepared with imported ingredients like duck, cod and lamb from Australia, the UK and Malaysia. We also guarantee that all the food is monosodium glutamate-free.” says marketing officer Kittima Sukchok.
Among the favourite orders are Smoked Salmon Salad (Bt225) with mixed greens and a spicy dressing, crispy Truffle Pizza (Bt335) topped with balsamic onion, grilled portabello mushrooms and garlic and spicy Penne Crab Meat (Bt295), a Thai southern style curry with a choice of pasta.
There’s rainbow bread made from beetroot, sesame, whole wheat and pumpkin as well as macaroons filled with caramel, raspberry, Earl Grey tea, chocolate and Thai tea.
Those with a sweet tooth can munch on such delights as caramel macadamia cheesecake, young coconut cake, Ovaltine cake, white chocolate cheesecake and Japanese cheesecake. A slice costs Bt155.
The drinks list includes caffeine-free flower and fruit teas by Florte, black tea by Gryphon and Lavazza coffee that comes with a home-made biscuit plus mocktails and smoothies made with fresh fruit. The Summer Rescue (Bt185) made from passion fruit and watermelon is refreshing and thirst-quenching while the Strawberry Banana Rocket smoothie (Bt135), a blend of strawberry, banana, rocket, raspberry puree, parsley and fresh cream, is delightfully soothing.
The Berry Tequila cocktail (Bt255) packs a punch and for those who can’t resist a glass of wine, there’s a selection of roses, sparkling whites and reds from Australia, Singapore, France and Chile.
