Celebrity wrangler A gets skittish about female stars

Celebrity wrangler A gets skittish about female stars

Supachai "A" Srivijit, who manages many A-list celebrities, including heartthrob actor Nadech Kugimiya, has shrugged off criticism that he's never quite as successful handling his female stars.

Recent abrasive comments online were clearly aimed at his grooming of badminton heroine Oranate “Richy” D Caballes for the big screen. She co-starred opposite Nadech in “Khoo Kam” a couple of years ago, but was basically acting like a badminton player. And her talent didn’t seem to improve in the Channel 3 prime-time soap operas that picked her up later. Show-business scribes said her acting was as “rocky as granite”.
“Personally I think she is successful,” A begs to differ. “She’s come so far from her career as an athlete. There are many others who’ve appeared in 10 TV series and never got the same level of recognition.”
A doesn’t think we should be comparing the popularity of female stars to that of males anyway, “Or maybe I’m only capable of creating male celebrities?” At any rate, A thinks he might recruit fewer female stars from now on. Difficult to say whether this is a plus for the ladies, though, because somebody’s bound to miss out on a big break.

Duck when a movie’s bad

Complaints on Pantip.com that the teen comedy “Ror Dor Khao Chon Phee Thee Khao Chon Kai” is the worst film Poj Arnon has ever directed totally freaked him out – mainly because he didn’t direct it.
All thumbs were pointed downward when fans compared notes on “Ror Dor”. “Not funny at all,” some declared. “Doesn’t make any sense.”
“I think ‘Satree Lek Tob Lok Taek’ was much funnier,” was a typical comparison with a movie Poj actually did direct, but obviously the poster didn’t know the difference. It was “Golf” Tanwarin who directed “Ror Dor”, as a thoroughly miffed Poj soon pointed out on Instagram. “Let’s get it straight that ‘Ror Dor’ is not my film – it is Tanwarin Sukkhapisit’s film. I am only a producer.”
(Evidently the producer gave director Golf complete creative control on this one.)
“I want to say to those people attacking me, don’t ‘scold’ me and check the details before opening your mouths. Be careful – the karma will be after you,” Poj warned. He’s got plenty else on his plate with another five movies to direct, he said, and he doesn’t need this headache too.
The errant movie fans duly corrected their faux pas on Pantip, re-posting Poj’s bleat and spreading the word. For some, though, Poj had indeed made a blunder over “Ror Dor” by responding so harshly. “Saying the movie is bad brings bad karma? Come on!” Pantip user Baby Kangaroo mused. “Then movie critics around the world must have earned a lot of bad karma. And how about the filmmakers who make low-quality movies that do actual harm to society?”
