Between albums and films, Nichkhun slums around on TV

Between albums and films, Nichkhun slums around on TV

Nichkhun Horvejkun, the token Thai boy in the South Korean boy band 2PM, must be dreadfully bored being a pop idol with bags of cash and millions of young girls swooning over him. The guy just can't sit still.

With his second Thai film due out soon – “Tae Khob Fah Chalui 2015” is a co-production between Thailand’s Transformation Film and South Korea’s CJ Entertainment – Nichkhun has decided to get busy with something else. He’s going to be a guest star on the Thai sitcom “Rub Saeb My Boss”.
Nichkhun will play good-hearted Piak, newly hired at the publishing company run by the show’s lead character (played by Thana “Oy” Suthikamon). Comedian Anna Chuanchuen portrays Piak’s uncle.
What makes this venture a bit of a challenge for Nichkhun is that Piak comes from Suphan Buri, so the multi-talented singer-actor has to see if his bag of talents contains a Suphan accent.
His fans can’t wait to see him try, knowing full well that it won’t be easy since he doesn’t spend much time in Thailand at all. We can just imagine him practising at home in Seoul. His housekeeper must be giving him funny looks while he’s pacing around muttering to himself in some weird dialect.

Fur flies for Bai Fern

From “Saranae Sib Lor” to “Saranae Hen Phee” to “Soob Khoo Ku Loke”, director Narubodi Wechakam always seems to make movies about blokes. But “Cat a Wap”, the feature he’s got coming out on March 4, is different. It’s about a girl – and many, many cats.
The flick’s about a young female intern at a TV production house and her strange experience helping make a commercial that stars nothing but cats. You can imagine the chaos. We’re sort of snickering already.
TV shows and movies often have dogs vying for a Best Supporting Actor award, but you hardly ever see cats, outside of an old “Garfield” cartoon special. There’s good reason for this, as any cat owner knows: Cats don’t obey orders.
Narubodi thinks women are like cats – not because they’re disobedient or anything, but because they’re attracted to warm-hearted humans. They know a good opportunity when they smell one.
His movie’s human cast includes Arak “Pe” Amornsupasiri, Pimchanok “Bai Fern” Luevisadpaibul and the comic duo Pongsak “Theng Terdterng” Pongsuwan and Chusak “Nong Cha Cha Cha” Iamsuk. Directing them was the easy part. The hard part was getting four cats to do what he wanted at any given time, and they were a diverse bunch too.
Johnnie is an Internet idol, with more than 500,000 followers on Facebook. Taro, Charlie and Som Jeed have completely different characters as well. And there were dozens of cat extras.
Bai Fern and Pe quickly discovered that cats really aren’t cut out for the rigours of show business. They were both bitten and scratched during filming. Bai Fern became very, very careful, eventually taking the precaution of approaching her feline co-stars with a respectful wai. She took a lot of teasing from the crew over that, but hey, if that’s the sort of adulation a movie-star cat needs to keep it calm, you go with it.
