Japanese bullet trains vs Chinese slow coaches

Japanese bullet trains vs Chinese slow coaches

I have lived in four different countries where travel by rail was or is a main transport mode for people and freight. I won't say much about the United Stares and it's love for the automobile.

I would, however, advise Thai officials to seriously consider Japan’s technology and expertise as the right option for railway development here. They could also glean lessons from Britain, since Japan’s rail system owes a lot to British advice and help.
In contrast, China-backed rail development should not even be considered. China’s record on building railways reveals a lack of consideration for safety and quality. Compare its short history of rail development with Japan’s and you will see that Japanese systems perform far better in the areas that should be priorities – safety, punctuality and speed. Go with Japan and you will be happy with your choice many years down the line.
