The bold and |the beautiful

The bold and |the beautiful

Bright colours offset by understrated neutrals dominate new collections by Ralph Lauren and Furla

TAKE A WALK on the wild side this summer with Ralph Lauren’s new spring-summer 2015 collection than redefines the classic safari look and transforms it into elegant gear perfect for conquering the urban jungle.
Showcased recently at the brand’s luxury boutique in Central Embassy, the collection is characterised by luxurious fabrics, exotic details and unexpected hues.
High desert meets high glamour when a silk cargo shirt is paired with flowing tulle or a military belt is reinvented in gold-toned mesh. Modern sportswear comes in its purest form as sleek, architectural silhouettes based in tones of khaki, black and ivory.
The colour palette is lit up with electric hues, with vivid lemon citrine, orange and fuchsia standing out against a rich backdrop of neutral tones.
From exquisite hand-embroidered evening gowns worn on the red carpet to luxurious hand-finished cashmere tweed suits to chic vintage denim inspired by rustic Americana, the collection truly evokes the dream of an exotic safari.
Italian accessory brand Furla is also focusing on colour for its spring-summer collection with a bag collection inspired by the Neo-Pop artistic movement. The new styles vibrate with lively colours, primarily festive shades of sunshine, hibiscus orange and ocean blue, counterpointed by gentler shades of white, grey and dove.
Splashes of colours that with chromatic gusto are often combined together to form daring colour-block effects add a distinctive personality to the new Furla “Twist” bag, a versatile and labour-intensive bucket-shaped shopper, complete with a metal bar and a woven inner compartment.
For trend-setters on the go seeking a relaxed modern elegance from sun-up to nightfall, Furla presents the season’s novelty shape: the soft-edged, user-friendly Furla “Spy” backpack in soft nappa and suede that is adorned with flat studs in burnished metal.
The iconic Furla “Metropolis” bag boasts hand-stitched padded details that trace geometric motifs down the front and a clasp with a multi-colour rubber coating. The same details also enhance the clean and sleek personality of the new “Alice” tote.
For its part, the latest version of the iconic Furla “Candy Bag” in soft PVC is a high-impact explosion of colours and opposing textures that add a touch of playful glamour to any day. Also of note is the version featuring resin brush-stroke effects that vary from subtle trickles to bold splotches, rigorously hand-applied to make each bag unique.
