Annual 'Amazing Thailand Grand Sale' set for June

Annual 'Amazing Thailand Grand Sale' set for June

THE TOURISM Authority of Thailand plans to join with the private sector to run the annual "Amazing Thailand Grand Sale" next month, aimed at boosting spending during low season.

Vilaiwan Twichasri, TAT’s deputy governor for tourism products, said the event would take place at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok from June 11-14.

Discounts up to 80%
Products on sale will offer discounts of up to 80 per cent from market prices.
“Shopping centres, tourism companies, vendors and hotels will stimulate spending through their attractive prices,” Vilaiwan said.
She said the event was part of this year’s national tourism campaign, “Discover Thainess”, which is aimed at pushing Thailand as a regional shopping as well as trade and tourism hub.
The authority also expects that the event will help boost the travel economy in the current low season.
Bussaya Prakobthong, general manager of NCC Exhibition Organiser, said the 14th annual Grand Sale would once again be a major discount event for tourism products and services.
The four-day event is expected to welcome 120,000 visitors, a 10-per-cent increase from the last year, and generate about Bt120 million in sales.
TAT currently is holding a grand sale in Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong area to boost spending at shopping malls, shops, and restaurants there.
The sales are set to continue through August, with the expectation of sales volume of more than Bt15 billion.
