Cahill predicts 'fantastic' celebration with Chelsea in Thailand

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is looking forward to his second trip to Thailand in three years to celebrate the Blues' double trophy success with "our most passionate fans" this weekend.

The west London club are due to arrive in Thailand tomorrow, just four days after getting their hands on their first EPL title in five years after Sunday’s 31 victory over Sunderland in their final league match of the season.

The Londoners’ visit will mark the first time fans in Thailand have experienced a postseason celebration tour, despite years of visits by big European clubs.
Chelsea’s travelling party led by Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho should be in buoyant mood for Saturday’s Singha Chelsea FC Celebration match at Rajamangala National stadium after a successful season in which they added the EPL trophy to the League Cup title they won back in March.
For the 29yearold Cahill, whose rocksolid partnership with Chelsea captain John Terry at the heart of defence was one of contributing factors to the club’s double triumph, the Thai trip simply can’t come soon enough.
“It will be great to go out to Thailand again. The last time I was there with Chelsea, in 2013, the fans were amazing. I know they follow us mostly through TV and the Internet so it will be fantastic to go see them in person. I can’t think of a better way to end this outstanding season.
“We’ve got so many fans in Thailand, and for all the boys to be able to go out there and thank them for their support will be great. We don’t get the chance to play in front of these amazing fans very often so I know the boys will all be very excited to go out there, this time as Premier League champions!”
The EPL triumph is Chelsea’s fourth in the last nine years, and third under Mourinho, following backtoback titles in his first stint in charge of the Blues before he returned to the club two years ago. But it is the first league title for Cahill, who arrived at Stamford Bridge three and a half years ago. The England defender struggled to contain his delight.
“You work day in, day out to get to this point. It’s the best feeling ever. It’s unbelievable. A lot of the lads were talking at the start [of the season], saying it was a long time since we’d won it. We got a sense that it was the most important trophy to win in a way.”
