Winning bid for lunch with Warren Buffett tops $2.3 m

A Chinese online game developer bid more than US$2,345,678 (Bt80 million) on Friday to win a private lunch with Warren Buffett.

 
The Glide Foundation uses the auction proceeds to help the poor and homeless in San Francisco, according to The Korea Herald, quoting The Associated Press.
Beijing-based Dalian Zeus Entertainment Co’s bid was still well below the 2012 winning bid of $3,456,789 – the most expensive charity item ever sold on eBay. |Last year’s winning bid was $2,166,766.
Over the past 15 years, the lunch auction has raised $17.9 million for Glide, which provides meals, healthcare, job training, rehabilitation and housing support to the poor and homeless.

Central Group will hold “The Greatest Grand Sale 2015” campaign with discounts of up to 80 per cent throughout 45 days at 58 shopping centres and department stores nationwide. 
In the first four days, customers can enjoy an instant win in the “Spend Bt1,000, Get Bt1,000 Back” promotion at 31 branches, with a total of 15,900 voucher prizes. 
The group is also collaborating with its partners from various industries such as MasterCard, Aeon Card and Toyota to provide benefits on top of the campaign. 
The campaign is expected to increase traffic in Central Group shopping centres by 20-30 per |cent.
The sale is being held until July 19 at CentralWorld shopping centre, all CentralPlaza, CentralFestival, and Central Department Stores, Zen Department Store and selected Robinson Department Stores.
