New from fashion's laboratory

New from fashion's laboratory

Multi-brand store FabLab at CentralWorld has clothes and accessories conceived in innovative experiments

THEIR CREATIVE people certainly don’t wear white lab coats, but the 35 Thai clothing-design brands that constitute the FabLab Group do indeed experiment with styles and concoct sensational fashion hybrids – and now they’ve got a “laboratory” you can visit. It’s a store called FabLab in the Beacon Zone (the Thai Designer Zone) on the second floor of CentralWorld.
The recent grand opening featured a fashion show with “Fabulous Laboratory – Where FAB molecules combine” as its theme. The store is even decked out with science-lab equipment.
“FabLab is a store that gathers 35 talented Thai online fashion brands in a single destination,” said Sirada Hannarkin, the group’s managing director. “All the clothes are created and designed by Thais. We give aspiring designers the chance to present their products and promote their brand in a wider market.”
The name FabLab derives from “Fabulous Laboratory”, a place for “experiments and testing”, Sirada said, “a place where everyone – owners, designers and customers – can share in the fascination and charm of fashion.”
The 35 brands collectively offer men’s and women’s wear, four of them specialising in shoes, two in bags, five in jewellery, two in cosmetics and one in iPhone cases.
The brands are Nisa & Friends, Plew, Karbiri, Paing, Chirawatt, Peach Town, Faminous, Azmara, Bergua, Veola, Silhouette, Comes Bella, LadyJane, Chada, Reserve, Mala, Awesome Dough, Miladi, Pink by Pink, Vacay Needed, Spaghetti Top, Minx, Parallel, Seira Elves, AllbyOr, Kiize, Haus of Jewelry, Pliew Design, Jewel Addict, Satada, Ployniyom, Dareme, Lilsis and Rein.
Lilsis designer Wasinee “Kwang” Termthanaporn explained that its selling point is in “meeting the needs of today’s women with natural-tone lipsticks they can use every day. We wanted to do something new and we’ve had good feedback online, so we’re confident about expanding our customer base with this store.”
Spaghetti Top designer Suthida Juengsura proudly showed off her Camisole, “a dress for any occasion, seven looks for seven days”. “You can wear it for shopping or work and mix-and-match it with clothes from any other brand, and this concept store is really suitable for this kind of gear.”
In the fashion show, a dozen models demonstrated the variety and versatility of the participating brands. For a preview, check out www.FabLab-store.com and “fablab.com” on Instagram.
