PM must not be tempted by calls for him to stay on

PM must not be tempted by calls for him to stay on

Despite the unsavoury consequences our country has suffered as a result of bad behaviour of "democratically elected" politicians during the past decade, Thais should not fear a return to elections.

Today, rumours abound that a certain individual who is held in high regard by Premier Prayut Chan-o-cha has ambitions to lead the country in a dictatorial way once Prayut steps down.
Hence, Prayut must carefully guard against becoming distracted from his original goal of reforming the country and returning democratic governance as soon as possible.
We might compare democracy to a wrestling match, where, in order to win, a competitor must either hold his opponent’s shoulders to the canvas for three seconds or otherwise force him into submission. All this must be done inside the ring, not anywhere outside it.
