Political dialogue slated for January

Union Minister for the President's Office and Union Peacemaking Working Committee chairman Aung Min said on September 14 that the government and ethnic armed groups sides would sign the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) in the first week of October an

 
He spoke at the multi-stakeholders meeting for the framework for political dialogue held in Yangon. 
 
“We will start discussing the framework in early December after signing the NCA at the beginning of October. I think we will finalise it. I strongly believe the political dialogue will begin in January,” he said. 
 
As part of the plans for the post-NCA peace process, the Joint Implementation Coordination Meeting (JICM) will be called within 14 days of the signing. Then, the formation of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) and the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) will follow within the next 15 days.
