Siamwatercraft to distribute Sea-Doo jetskis

“BRP, the world’s major manufacturer of water crafts, has plans of expanding its market in Asia-Pacific,” said Kijja Wongwaree, executive director, Siamwatercraft and Power Sport.

“BRP has appointed Siamwatercraft and Power Sport as the sole importer and distributor of Sea-Doo, Can-Am and related products for Thai market. Siamwatercraft will be in charge of marketing activities, networking, brand building, technical services, sales and after-sales,” he said.

Kijja said that there has been an emergence of customers in the Asia-Pacific region who want to lead an exciting lifestyle resulting in the development of tourism related to water sports and outdoor activities. “There are plenty of opportunities for businesses related to vehicle parts and that is where we see growth.”

The company has already appointed dealers in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Ubon Ratchathani and Ayutthaya while new dealers with strong capability will be added next year, he said.

 “The dealers will be appointed considering their ability to offer comprehensive scope of services, including sale, parts service and after-sale services,” Kijja said. 

Recently, the company has amended the policy on parts pricing. For example, the parts of Sea-Doo boats have seen 10-30% reduction in price.” 

The jetski market in Thailand is estimated at 1,500-1,800 units per year and is growing thanks to lower retail prices. Sea-Doo sales were 450 units during the past 12 months.

“Customers of jet ski can be divided into two categories – rental agent, who purchases jet skis to serve tourists, and private riders. The largest market has been the rental agents. Yamaha is a key player while the private riders have continued to consider Sea-Doo, which is a high-end market leader. Nowadays, used jet skis are no longer popular as the cost of new ones is not so high. But there is also a chance for the second-hand market as ageing jet skis need to be replaced,” he said.
