We will continue to negotiate with ethnic armed groups for a permanent ceasefire agreement,” Than Htay said during a meeting between President Thein Sein and political parties at the Yangon Region government office on November 15.
“We will try to build a union based on the federal system and create equal rights for all ethnic groups. We will amend the constitution to build a new democratic country that guarantees equal rights for all ethnicities, democracy and human rights. We will cooperate with the public to transform the centralised government system into a people-centred one.”
He continued that the party have resolved to continue to build a democratic country in line with the party’s policies to fulfil the desires and needs of the people.
He said the USDP had committed to building a people-centred government system even before the election.
