USDP makes most election complaints in Ayeyawady

USDP makes most election complaints in Ayeyawady

Yangon - The Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) made the most complaints about the election and campaign period in Ayeyawady Region, said chairman Aung Myint of the Ayeyawady regional election sub-commission.

Although the exact number of complaints is not known, the party that made the most complaints is the USDP, according to official records, the chairman said.

“The USDP made many complaints. I don’t know how many they are exactly. We've been informed, and the regional chief minister Thein Aung was also informed. Township election sub-commissions have been informed about the cases through district commissions. Some are in police jurisdiction,” he added.

“In Hinthada, Htay Oo lodged a formal complaint directly to the Union Election Commission. He complained that he was asked to show his vote by a polling officer at No 153 polling station in Oo Yin Taung. We’re distressed. When investigated, the claim was found to be incorrect,” he said.

The National League for Democracy took 88 parliament seats out of 92 in the region, while the USDP took just four.
