WE’VE HAD FAR too much bad news and gloomy commentary this week, so when actor-singer Ruangsak “James” Loychusak called a media conference on Monday to announce his forthcoming wedding, the press was primed. Some good news? Much appreciated!
James says yep, he’s about to tie the knot with his girlfriend, teacher Natcha “Goi” Daeng-ngarm.
James said he’d never really believed in destiny before, but then he met Goi nearly a year ago in Nakhon Si Thammarat, the province they both call home. And he knew straightaway that she was the one.
A-bubble with joy, James summoned the press and he and Goi appeared in classical garb – they just finished having their pre-wedding photos taken – and right off the bat they got whacked with an impertinent question. “Isn’t it too soon?” someone asked.
“No!” James replied. Maybe some people might consider a year to be “rushing” things if the bride and groom were younger, but “I’m 30 already!” That was a joke to keep the mood light – he’s actually 38, while Goi is 35.
“The timing is right. We’re both experienced enough in life,” James added. And, as if to force everyone on to the same page, he declared, “I’m going to have a wife now!”
Bride-to-be Goi said she’s just as excited about it as he is. A schoolteacher like her mum, she said her family wasn’t quite so thrilled about her dating a showbiz celebrity, but they’ve come around since realising the kids are serious about this marriage thing.
They met while James was doing some work back on home turf. He felt something special about her – you remember the feeling – and asked for her number.
The next thing Goi knew, he was proposing to her. When James approached her, she said, he had tears in his eyes. “I’d never seen him so nervous before, but I’d already decided a long time before to say yes if he asked me.”
Like every other female in Thailand, Goi is a major James fan (hopefully that won’t become past tense anytime soon). “Just getting one picture with him was a dream, let alone becoming his girlfriend!” she giggled.
The engagement ceremony is set for December 24, a low-profile affair for family and close friends at the Twin Lotus Hotel in Nakhon Si Thammarat. “The wedding will be early next year,” said James.
Asked what he plans to give Goi’s family by way of a dowry, James said he’ll be offering “the most priceless present” he can manage – the best family life possible. “Of course I’ll follow tradition and give whatever I’ve earned and can afford, but that’s just the beginning, because what I promise is to give Goi a happy married life.”
Goi thanked James for that, saying his sincerity is what counts most to her – the money doesn’t matter. She’s looking forward to “family life” too. They’ve already decided to have up to four kids!
