Simply made for sharing

The new Acer Liquid Z630 allows you to top up a friend's battery power

AN AFFORDABLE 4G smartphone with good performance, the Acer Liquid Z630’s most endearing feature is that it can help you top up a friend’s mobile by sharing your battery.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1280x720-pixel resolution and has 2 gigabytes of working memory and 16 GB |internal storage.
Acer manages to keep the price low by using the low-cost MediaTek processor – the MT6735 quad-core 1.30 GHz – instead of the top-of-the-line octa-core processor from Qualcomm.
Although the MediaTek MT6735 is not blazing fast, its performance is acceptable and I noticed no |sluggishness during the test. The touch-screen was responsive and the overall performance good for this price range.
The Liquid Z630 runs on the| latest operating system of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and it comes with |several useful functions from Acer. One of them is AcerExtend, which allows the phone to be linked to a PC on the same home network. To get it to work, all you need do is link the phone to the wireless router and install the AcerExtend app on the PC. You can then simulate the smartphone screen on the computer and transfer files between your PC and phone easily as well as use the computer to control the phone functions.
Acer BYOD apps easily link the Liquid Z630 to your PC and a notebook computer to exchange files using free Acer portal services. For example, abMusic, let you play music stored on your computer or your personal Cloud music library using the Acer Cloud service as a link. You need to register for an Acer ID to use the service.
The Liquid Z630 has an 8MP main camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies. The front camera has a voice function, meaning that you just say “Selfie” or “Cheese” to take your own photo.
The main camera has several modes, including Bright Magic, Beautification, Panorama and HDR. There are also Landscape, Night, Night Portrait and Portrait scene modes as well as Mono, Sepia, Negative and Aqua effects.
I found the camera captured good quality photos for a mobile device when there was sufficient light or the flash was turned on.
The Liquid Z630 supports LTE 4G connection. I tested it with TrueMove H’s LTE network and was able to post my snapshots to my Facebook wall very fast and back them up to my cloud storage with no problem.
I measured the connection speed with Ookla speedtest app and it achieved the download speed of 43.83 Mbps and upload speed of 20.99 Mbps.
The Acer Liquid Z630 plays good quality music and the sound speaker on its back uses DTS speakers technology, allowing you to share your music on the go.
It also surprisingly supports playing full high-resolution of FLAC 24bit/192 kHz music files. I tested high-res music playback with the Sony MDR-1ABT and found that music quality had good details as well as a powerful bass. DTS technology allows you to further adjust the sounds.
The Z630 comes with 4,000 mAh battery and, as mentioned earlier, lets you share your battery juice with a friend via the USB-on-the-go cable. One end of the USB-on-the-go cable is a micro USB connector for plugging into your friend’s mobile phone and the other is a full USB receptor that connects to the full USB plug of a standard micro-USB-to-USB data cable. Of course, the micro USB plug of the standard charge cable is connected to Liquid Z630’s micro USB port.
Acer Liquid Z630 has a suggested retail price of just Bt6,990.
