Motor Expo vehicle sales down 7.4%

Altogether 39,125 orders were placed for new automobiles at this year’s Thailand International Motor Expo from December 2-13.

Show organiser Kwanchai Paphatphong said yesterday that while auto sales dropped by 7.4 per cent from last year, orders for big motorcycles surged by 111.5 per cent to 5,749 units.

About Bt50 billion in transactions took place at the show, which is the final auto-buying event of the year.

The breakdown of sales was passenger cars 46.2 per cent, sport-utility vehicles 30.9 per cent, pickup trucks 19.1 per cent and others 3.8 per cent.

The top-selling models were the Honda City, Mazda2, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max.

Siam Paragon has already been one of the most posted places on Instagram.

More than 250,000 people visit Siam Paragon daily, Chadatip Chutrakul, CEO of the complex, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last week, said yesterday.
